Life can be challenging, stressful, and anxiety provoking. Sometimes it’s hard to discern if you need contact, distance, to be angry, vulnerable, grieving, or even joyful.
Often life’s challenges happen quickly and suddenly. Perhaps you experience a job loss, an argument with your partner, or are deciding in the moment how to connect with or discipline your child. You may be confused, full of doubt, critical, or even at a loss for words to express yourself. Understanding what or how things are happening around us or in our relationships, is not always easy.
What I offer you in individual therapy is a space where together, we can deeply inquire into what you need and want.
- How do you make your choices?
- What information do you have inside yourself that tells you how to respond in any given situation?
- How do you experience your anxiety? Depression? Anger? Sensitivity? Vulnerability? Joy?
As a Gestalt therapist, one of the many things I am interested in is how you Self-Regulate.
- How do you naturally organize yourself?
- How do you take care of yourself when you are in social gatherings?
- How do you communicate with your partner about your needs?
Most often, the patterns that feel familiar to you do so, because that’s how you learned to Self-Regulate growing up. Today, you may realize that you want to make different choices, such as being more assertive or taking healthy risks or possibly decreasing your need to control a situation. Maybe you’re seeking more secure attachment with your partner, growing your intimacy, or maybe learning how to differentiate from your parent or loved one in order to feel confident and empowered.
I will support you in getting through overwhelming emotions and confusing thoughts, to the heart of what you need to feel more alive, authentic, empowered, and compassionate with yourself.
